Isle of Skye End to End
About the Isle of Skye End to End
The Isle of Skye or 'winged island' with its 300 miles coast line, is one of those places that inspires with its at times savage natural beauty, its history and wildlife. Also known as the Misty Island (Eilean a' Cheò), its pervading Gaelic culture gives a character that is quite different. The whole combination draws one back again and again.
This continuous end to end walk from south to north, of some 80 odd miles, is constantly fascinating, regularly challenging, and never boring. It will provide memories to last a lifetime.

Guided Isle of Skye End to End - Brief Itinerary:
Meet: Stirling Railway Station at 12:00 or C-N-Do scotland office at 12:15. Pickup on route is possible if arranged in advance.
Return: Stirling at approx 18:00
Day 1: Leave Stirling and travel by mini-bus via Glencoe and Fort William to Mallaig. Overnight in guest house accommodation there.
Day 2: Take the 09.30 (Mn to St) or 10.30 (Sn) ferry across to Armadale to start our adventure. Walk along to Ardvasar, over to the west side of the Sleat peninsula, then up as far as the tiny township of Ord (20km). Transport will be waiting to take us to Broadford hostel where we spend the first of four nights.
Day 3: Ord to Heaste along the rough coast with hopefully great views of the distant Cuillins of Rum and of Skye. (14km)
Day 4: Continue to follow the coast through the haunting ruined townships of Boreraig and Suisnish to reach Torrin and the north end of Loch Slapin (16km).
Day 5: Weather permitting we cross a couple of high passes on Garbh Bheinn before dropping down to Glen Sligachan that we follow northwards to reach the east coast (15km). If conditions dictate a lower level route can be take starting at Elgol to reach the same point (18km)
Day 6: We pack our gear and load up before heading back to Sligachan, to pick up the route again to Skyes capital , Portree, that we reach mostly by following the east coast (18km). Accommodation will be at Uig hostel, the first of four nights there.
Day 7: From Portree we head round the coast to Torvaig and amble northwards but this time high above (and well back from) the dramatic cliffy coastline finishing in view of the Storr (13km).
Day 8: Today is spent following the crest of the spectacular Trotternish Ridge, gaining and loosing quite a few meters along the way, to finish at the Staffin /Uig road (21km). If necessary this day can be shortened by dropping down to Uig early.
Day 9: Return to our previous finish point and continue to follow the high ground, looking across to the amazing landforms of the Quiraing, eventually dropping down to Duntulm Castle on the north west coast (9km). We can add a further wee stroll out to Rubha Huinish, the most northerly point of Skye. This will add a further 6km but conclude our epic journey quite nicely.
Day 10: Return south to Stirling via the Skye Bridge, Kintail, Fort William and Glencoe to reach there around 18.00.
