The Unpronounceables
About the Unpronounceables
The remote, high mountains south of Strathcarron, around the end of Loch Monar, can best be savoured by this connoisseur's trek. Their names might be difficult to say but they'll be as well known as friends by the end of the trip. Lurg Mor round to Maoile Lunndaidh are the main targets plus whatever else there might be time for.

The Unpronounceables Brief Itinerary:
Meet at Stirling station: 09:00
Return: 18:00
Day 1: Meet at our base in Stirling at 09:15 (we’ll pick you up at the railway station at 09:00 if you let us know). At our office there will be a short briefing session, equipment check and issue. After that we head to Achintee near Strathcarron to start the adventure. The first section takes us easily over to Glen Bearnais where we will find a camping place suitable for 2 nights (~6ml / 10km, ascent 1500ft / 450m).
Days 2: Today we travel light to collect Bidean a'Choire Sheasgaich and Lurg Mhor (~6ml / 10km, ascent 1000m).
Days 3: Today, carrying all our gear again, we claim Sgurr a'Chaorachain and Bidean an Eoin Deirg before dropping down to camp near Drochaid Mhuilich (~8ml / 12km, ascent 1000m).
Days 4: The ascent of Maol Lunndaidh is today's objective before our final camp between Pollan Buidhe & Glenuaig Lodge (~6-8ml / 10-12km, ascent 500m).
Days 5: A relaxing trek down the old stalkers' trail takes us to Achnashellach (8ml / 12km, ascent 100m) in time to get a train back to Strathcarron. After sorting out our kit we head off back to Stirling arriving there about 18:00.
Fitness Levels
Due to the remote nature of this trip and lack of easy escape routes, participants should ensure that they have a high enough level of fitness to enable them to complete at least the linear parts of this holiday in full. The ability to carry 30-35lbs is essential.
