Independent West Coast Islands Grade 1-Grade 2

New for this year is this 4 night short break based in Oban on Scotland's west coast. Oban is an attractive ferry port often referred to as the "Gateway to the Isles". Included in your short break are day trips to the islands of Mull and Lismore. A third day can be spent on the Island of Kerrera. Each of these three islands has its own distinctive character. On Mull you could choose to visit colourful Tobermory, famed for its role as Balamory, or visit Duart Castle perched on its wild headland overlooking the Sound of Mull.

Have it your way!

If you would like to change or add to any of our range of Independent Walking holidays detailed in this section, don't keep it a secret.

Tell us what you have in mind and we'll put somehting together for you.

On Kerrera take a stroll along quiet tracks to the ruin of Gylen Castle and the Kerrera Tea Garden. Lismore is a tranquil unspoilt island stepped in history offering a choice of walking options taking you past ruined castles and ancient brochs. Depending upon your arrival and departure times you may also have time for some exploration of Oban including a distillery and MacCaigs Tower, a 19th century folly inspired by the Colosseum in Rome.

Your exact itinerary is flexible allowing you to choose what you do and when. We will provide suggestions for walking routes on each of the 3 islands plus notes on more relaxing sightseeing options available to you. Return transport from Glasgow (Edinburgh option available) is included in the cost of your holiday.

We are offering a choice of Premier and Value options on this holiday. A deluxe option (hotel accommodation) can also be arranged. Please contact us for a quotation.

On all options evening meals are available locally either at your accommodation or nearby. The Value option allows for either self-catering or eating out. Packed lunches are obtainable either from accommodation providers or local shops. Details will be provided in your holiday dossier.

In addition to this independent short break we are also able to offer the following island exploration holidays as part of our guided walking holiday programme Mull Iona Ulva, Scotland’s Sea Kingdom, Isle of Skye End to End, Outer Hebrides.
