National Parks Explorer

Grade: Grade 1 - Grade 2 (Grade explanation)

About the National Parks Explorer

You couldn't get two more different National Parks than the 'Loch Lomond and the Trossachs' and the 'Cairngorms' ones, but yet united in the variety of their landscapes, habitats, lifestyles and objectives. This two centre trips (Aberfoyle and Kingussie) lets us in behind the vista to discover mysterious islands, hidden lochans, wonderful pine woodlands and the people and wildlife which occupy them.

Brief Itinerary for the National Park Explorer:

Day 1: Travel to Aberfoyle and check in to our accommodation. There should be time for a short walk in the vicinity to familiarise yourself with your surroundings.

Days 2 & 3: There are too many routes to choose from but here are some:

  • Balmaha, Craigie Fort & Inchcailloch
  • Lime Craig, Braeval & David Marshall Lodge
  • Inversnaid bird reserve and West Highland Way
  • Brig o’Turk & Glen Finglas

Day 4: Pack up and head up to Kingussie via Killin, and Aberfeldy with time for a walk on route.

Days 5 & 6: More difficult choices to make:

  • Loch an Eilein & Loch Gamhna
  • Glenmore & Ryvoan
  • Glen Feshie & Ruigh Aiteachain
  • Carrbridge & The Slochd

Day 7: Pack up again and head back to Stirling and the end of the trip.
