Hill Talk October 2007 - C~N~Do Scotland Newsletter

Hi Folks

Winter Skills

Whilst we may be enjoying the best sunshine we have experienced all year, winter is not far round the corner so if you are thinking of taking to the hills this winter now is the time to start thinking about winter skills. We are running both 1 day courses based from Stirling and weekend courses based in the Northern Cairngorms this year. These courses are ideal if you have experience of summer hill walking and are now looking to take your first steps in winter. Check out our winter skills courses for full details, dates and prices Remember if there is a group of you, then we can arrange extra courses to suit.

Highland New Year

Talking of winter walking, our Highland New Year holiday always has some grand winter walking in Scotland. By popular demand, we are going to be based at the independent hostel at Callander in the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. It's a friendly & welcoming place to return to after walking, and good for evening socialising and a Hogmanay ceilidh. If you haven't been before, why not join us this year? The price of £459 includes 4 days walking with a qualified mountain leader (there's a daily choice of walks available), 5 nights hostel accommodation, full board and transport from/to Stirling. Spaces are filling fast so best not to leave it too long before booking. See our Highland New Year holiday for more information and secure online booking.

2008 Holidays

The programme for 2008 will be online soon and we hope to send out the postal brochure in early December. If you are not on our postal mailing and wish to be, please do get in touch. If there is something specific you would like us to include in next year’s programme, then if you are quick you can still get it into the programme.

Autumn Winter 07/08 Páramo Range

The new Autumn and Winter Páramo range is now in stock in our store. New items include the Trekker Hoodie, two tone tee shirts and vests, and ladies specific Velez Adventure smock, Aspira Smock and Aspira Trousers. Páramo is the clothing of choice for our leaders and instructors and comes highly recommended. If you haven’t tried it yet why not add it to your Christmas list? See our Paramo Clothing store for more details to view the full range and check out our current special offers/sale items. This would also be a good opportunity to tell you that we are currently running a special 15% off Trek and Travel promotion (stock items only). Plus those of you who can get to the Dundee Mountain Film Festival (23-24 Nov) might be able to pick up the odd extra special bargain on the C-N-Do / Paramo stand.

Vouchers

Remember, with that particular time of year coming up soon, when lots of head scratching goes on to think what suitable gifts could be, a C-N-Do Voucher could be the perfect solution. These can be either for a specific amount or, alternatively, for a specific product (garment, holiday, course or day).

New Activity in the Range

Nordic Walking has recently been added to our range of ways to keep active. With introductory sessions starting at £20, this is a great low impact, all round body work out and great fun as well. A qualified instructor will help to sort your arms and legs out, and the loan of Nordic Walking poles is included in the price. Locations of sessions for individual booking vary from Stirling and the Pentlands, to Pollok Park in Glasgow and Aberfoyle. However, if there are half a dozen or so of you a session can be arranged to suit. C-N-Do is also a retailer of Exel and Leki Nordic Walking poles – another fun Christmas or birthday present idea.

Access News

Most Access Authorities are currently consulting on their local draft Core Path Plans. Remember we all have a say in this process, so if you have the opportunity get along to one of your local meetings and add your knowledge of local paths and routes to your local plan. In the first instance contact your local council, but do get involved and have your say.

Enjoy yourselves wherever you go.
